SEP Project 52 \\ Week 2

January 11, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

Last night before I went to bed I was sooo excited for snow because this weeks theme is "cold". Oh the thoughts where just flowing through my head. I had the absolute best idea for how I would use snow and ice with the theme.. BUT.. this is Missouri. The weather is NEVER going to be what the weatherman predicts. Never. Instead of getting snow, we are currently getting rain. Nasty, cold rain (which I'm sure will turn into ice later, but that wouldn't have worked with my idea either haha). I didn't even want to step outside in this weather for 5 seconds to see what I could possibly shoot. No way. Cold and wet just isn't a good mixture for me.

As I sat looking around my living room trying to figure out another way to describe cold through a photo, I decided to make a twist in my plans. Sometimes, just simply turning around opens yours eyes to new things.

THIS WEEKS THEME IS : COLD

My family has three smart, funny, energetic, goofy, lazy, loving dogs. I wouldn't changing them for the world. They are such a huge blessing to us.

So, behind these cold themed images is a special meaning. As you can see, they actually aren't cold at all. Far from it. They are inside, warm and cozy. Even sleeping in our unmade bed. The point behind this is simple. It's freezing. It's wet. It's cold. I refused to step outside for 5 seconds to find something else to take pictures of.. why would I make them stay outside in this weather? Even if you can't bring your pets in, please just make sure that they are warm with hay, cedar chips and/or a heating lamp. After all, they love and take care of us unconditionally. Shouldn't we do the same?

Want to get in on the P52 challenge? Dust off that old film camera, throw an SD card in your point and shoot or figure out your manual settings on your DSLR. Every Sunday I will post the blog and share that weeks theme with you to capture during the rest of the week. I'd even love for you to share your shots along the way too!
